These objects are functional works of art, handmade from materials that are dear to me. This is my way of celebrating my cows and my community.

I work to use the whole hide, and find a way to incorporate all the beautiful imperfections without sacrificing strength or utility.

Our Farm

Pat Knapp and I run Back Paddock Farm in Ghent, NY. We rotationally graze Red Devon Cattle via regenerative practices. It has been a real honor to be able to buy our hides from the butcher and drive them to our friends at Pergamena in Montgomery, NY - North America's leader in Parchments and leathers. I am incredibly proud of this personal product and its history of love and labor. Items made from our cows' leather will be labeled as Back Paddock in the title. All other leather is purchased directly from Pergamena.
